Why the negativity towards McClaren?

1) We didn't need to change manager so unless he makes some strides forward he is always going to get stick from the fans or they will beat him with the stick of 'we should have stuck with Holloway' - I would argue we are making strides, i think there is improvement in the football we are playing and more youngsters are in and around the first team and crucially the first team has players they can learn from not just compete with.

2) He was brought in to develop and work with the younger players and has completely ignored that remit. He is only playing 2 regularly, Eze and Lumley and in Lumley's case he is only playing him because his first choice performed so poorly. Manning was shipped out, Smyth couldn't even start in the cup, Osayi-Samuel was man of the match in the cup against Bristol Rovers but only had 13 minutes in the league since and Kakay's confidence must be low as he was replaced with a 35 year old after 3 games. He is sending the wrong message out to the younger players and bringing in experience is all well and good but that was not why he was hired. - I dont think he has at all, two regularly play as you pointed out and others are getting some game time but again crucially they are working with some seasoned pro's who they can learn from. Also where do we go if we had to keep play kakay who is clearly not ready? would we just destroy the poor lad and then let him fall, instead he mac saw he wasnt ready, brought someone in to play now and im sure to help Kakay develop. Alot of our youngsters are not as good as we think and we would be much worse off if they just played every week. Being in that first team squad with people to learn from develops players and sometimes is better for them rather then getting abused by fans because they are not ready. 

3) He is incredibly dour and has not made any attempt to build a rapport with the fans - he is but most managers are.

4) His cup selection last week was shambolic and it means that the 496 fans who were there now have very little time for him. He alienated the hard core fans who made that trip - not the fans he should be turning against him. - Was it not on the same lines as previous rounds? We are not aiming to win the cup but a run is nice however he has a squad of players all banging on his door to play so when better opportunity then cup games that dont matter in the context of our season.

5) As @singlespeed says it is hard to recover from losing 7-1, that is another stick fans will come back to every time we go on a bad run.- It is extremely hard to recover from that and yet we are now 5th in the form table. He has clearly recovered very well and helped the players recover to.

6) He said he wanted to play attacking football (see his initial interview after getting the job) but aside from deflected or scruffy strikes we don't look threatening at all. Against Norwich, Blackpool and Swansea in 3 or the last 4 games we barely had a shot. Like above if his remit was to develop youngsters and play attacking football he is failing to do what he was hired for. - A) It does not happen over night, the football style has to develop over time but we all want attacking football, so for my money we should back the guy willing to and trying to create that style for the club. He knows how to play attacking football but you dont just turn up and tell the players "We are playing attacking football lads" and expect them to bang in 3 goals a game.

7) Even if he manages to finish around 16th like last season fans will say he should leave because he hasn't taken us forward. The only valid reason to change manager in the summer was to try and progress otherwise why bother? If we don't progress it is all too easy to criticise his appointment. - Wondering why ollie was sacked and then sacking a manager for implementing a new style, using more youngsters, not spending much money and not fairing any worse in the league sounds like madness to me.

8) One of the reasons we may not be in trouble is how poor this league is, this is our 4th season at this level and it is getting worse. Bolton were dreadful, Birmingham dire and Reading abysmal. We were hardly playing swashbuckling stuff last night and we were one deflected strike away from a 0-0 against an atrocious side. As soon as we come up against a half decent side like West Brom or Swansea we get swept aside. - Beacuse we are not yet half decent, but we have a manager trying to work on that and from what ive seen he is starting to get us into half decent territory. 

9) I am convinced that he just is not the right fit for QPR. From what I see online he will just never, ever be popular with the majority of the QPR fanbase. That could be his personality which I mentioned above but fans are so quick to stick the knife in with him, more so than any other recent manager we have had. As soon as we lose you see the web awash with him mocked up as a clown, the wally with the brolly and such like. -Unfortunately i feel like a lot of fans would prefer us to throw loads of money to get to the prem and then throw loads more money at it again. We seem to be a rather forgetful and fickle bunch sometimes.

10) People keep spelling his name wrong.  - Well its a daft name anyway
