The U23s played Coventry this afternoon and, despite a good long-range shot from Oteh to put us ahead in the first half, the visitors defied the possession to snatch an equaliser. The team was: Ingram, Furlong, Kakay, Goss, Hall, Hamalainen, Smyth, Cousins, Oteh, Chair, Osayi-Samuel.
Oteh played as #9 and Chair as a #10, being lively as ever. Smyth was also up front, on the RHD side, but did not look as sharp as we saw last season (perhaps he needs more competitive minutes?); and Smyth was eventually replaced by Tilt. Cousins and Goss looked to be cruising around the pitch, whereas Furlong & Hammalainen made good, effective probes up the wings. Another successful players was O-Samuel, although like Eze he does forget to support his team when the ball is lost.
It was mentioned that this is a very strong U23s and players such as Smyth, Oteh, Chair & Osayi-Samuel need to go out on loan in January if there is no first team chances.
Oteh scores again and Shopido is becoming a very talented player.
It would be good if the club put up the full 90 mins to watch so we could get to watch the youth developing.
I watched that too surrey chad and thought how well Shodipo and Oteh took their goals! It would have been really good to see a full 90 minutes of the game, or even just a longer version of the highlights, because as you say - they are indeed doing well and the could well be the future. A little aside, it was noticeable how powerful Shodipo has become (and thus difficult to shift off the ball); whereas Jack Clarke looked like a schoolboy in comparison. The latter needs to spend more time in the gym in my my opinion and also play as part of a team!
Clarke doesn't even appear to be that good in the U23 games. I am beginning to suspect he was a bit of a flash in the pan when he broke through at Leeds and isn't quite as good as Spurs thought he was.
I do have to say I sense that overall the next batch of youngsters (see list here) we have coming through aren't quite to the standard of the Manning/Chair/Eze batch (I include Oteh and Shodipo in that group as they are older). A few of them are on loan at the likes of Dartford, Waltham Abbey and Northwood which does suggest they aren't quite going to make the grade.
Shopido in my opinion is definitely one I think will be in getting a few games towards the end of this year and first team next along with Dillion Barnes wh will move up to Number 2 keeper as Kelly or Lumley will go.
Deshane Dalling will be one for the year after.
One that frustrates me is Lewis Walker, he played a couple of times under Holloway (I think) and looked a useful prospect but he is playing for down the leagues than expected.

In respect of Shopido I think you are spot on. The club will be looking for quite a few of the U23 squad to be stepping up because I can see a lot of players leaving this summer.
As things stand
Jordan Hugill, Jack Clarke and Luke Amos are due to return to their parent clubs,.
Grant Hall, Angel Rangel, Geoff Cameron and Marc Pugh are in the final months of their contracts and there doesnt seem to be any talks of them remaining.
I's likely that we could see the transfers of Eze, BOS and maybe even Manning.
In addition it looks likely that Leistner and Lumley will want away to seek first team football elsewhere.
In total 12 of our current first team squad could be gone by the start of season 2020/21.

I don't think you will be far away, with that assessment although I think we will resign Hall & Pugh on short term deals. It would be suicide if we sell Eze and BOS as the fans would go nuts, but either Chair or Manning will go. Lumley has to go to get his confidence back at another club, it wont be achieved with us.
I’d like us to sign hugill on a permanent deal Stoatey who is entitled to his opinion saids he a one trick pony He works very hard throughout the games and proves how good he is with a wells type striker and on his own He’s tall and pretty quick for a guy his size too and yes he does have dry spells but name a striker that doesn’t

Whilst I'm never going to be one of Hugill's greatest fans I was a fan of big Matt Smith who was a very similer type of target man striker.
Their career scoring records arent too different although this season Smith goals to games ratio is cleary better than Hugills. If we were to sign Hugill on a permanent transfer it would be a step backwards IMO.

Ideally (although we are talking 'hens teeth' here) we should be looking fr an established, young striker who is comfortable with both holding play and ball-distribution. Sadly that means we are looking in League One or abroad - along with all the other Championship clubs!
