If you put Luke Freeman and Josh Scowen in a pot with a pinch of salt and stir it all up, you get...
Sam Field
22 years old, joins on loan from West Brom with a view to a permanent move in the summer
Only 5 appearances for West Brom this season and hasn't featured since October (has been injured in that period)
He was on loan at Charlton last season and played 18 games
He seems a little injury prone but if he can get fit he seems a good prospect. After a quick search I suspect the only reason he isn't playing at West Brom is because every time he get's a run of games he get's injured.

The view to a permanent deal in the summer is interesting, he has played for England at lots of different age level's, I thought they would be shipping him out to get more match experience...
I wonder if that could spell the end of Cameron and maybe one other?
I think all of us are surprised at how well Cameron is coping so far this season in terms of stamina. We know he has the football ability and the experience, but you would have thought he would struggle at his age more than he does. Full credit to him and the training staff! Having said all that, the club must assume this will be his last season at this level as an automatic starter, and be looking for at least one alternative. Well we have Johansen and now Field, so they join Ball (who seemed to be tasked with the unnatural role of link man last night) in the mix.
West Bromwich Albion confirmed on transfer deadline day that Sam Field has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan for the rest of the season, just seven months after his temporary stint at Charlton Athletic ended. The 22-year-old has made just five appearances from a possible 24 this season, amassing only 59 minutes of Premier League football (Transfermarkt). He has spent the majority of 2020/21 sidelined with injury and has seen his development stall, so Albion were right to let him leave.
Field found himself behind Jake Livermore, Romaine Sawyers and Conor Gallagher under both Slaven Bilic and Sam Allardyce. The recent arrivals of Okay Yokuslu from Celta Vigo and Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal would likely have pushed him further down the pecking order, so he had to get out on loan for the sake of his career. The former England under-20 international hasn’t made an appearance for West Brom since October as he spent time out with a knee injury and was short of match fitness upon his recovery from that setback. Field trained for weeks before Allardyce included him in the matchday squad again, but he didn’t play a single minute under Big Sam even when Livermore and Sawyers were underperforming, so it’s clear that his development has stalled if he has now been sent back to the Championship.
READ WEST BROM VERDICT It’s never nice seeing the careers of academy players hit a downward spiral, but West Brom have done the right thing in loaning Field out to QPR. He should hopefully get regular playing time at a level more suited to his current ability, so the Baggies will be hoping he can turn things around in west London before returning to The Hawthorns.
I think this signing just means Cameron stays in defence and suggests 3-5-2 is the way we will play the rest of the season.
I would have thought the new Dutch defender would go in the back three? Dickie , Van Wijs, Barbet ?
Good point, although I am not sure how fit he is (he did not even make the subs bench against Watford) and perhaps Warburton is reluctant to break up what has become a solid defence trio? There is the other question of how close any of our players are to an automatic suspension because of too many yellows. Anyone tracking those?

Field is a very similer signing to when we got Amos on loan from Spurs. They both are young lads who had shown really promising form before getting serious injuries that derailed their progress. Like Amos, Field has dropped into the Championship to see if he can get going again.
Fields contract with WBA is up in the summer and he becomes a free agent. If he plays well then I suspect he could be off to pastures new but we should be in pole position to offer him a contract. If he turns out to be a Jack Clarke then we can send him on his way. The issue is that he has to prove he can play several games and stay injury free.
A good interview that shows his desire to play - and play well. Assuming his injury problems are behind him then I see him as a real asset. I totally agree in regard to Austin becoming captain instead of Cameron. Until he arrived we were way too quiet, but now we are shouting and encouraging each other, whilst contesting daft decisions. I would not wait - first game Cameron cannot play then make Austin captain!
