With Dozzell and Ball being right footed that also gives us different options. The biggest issue for me is the left side of midfield and whether Johansen re-joins. Amos is left footed and could do a job in that role but like Dozzell he remains a bit unproven at Championship level.
I'm pretty certain that Dozzell is left footed (as is Field). Amos is definitely right footed.
The club have put out a tweet which sounds ominously like the one they put out when Amos got injured last year. The fact he needs a scan suggests it isn't just a "knock".
And so it proves - Field needs surgery and is out for 3-4 months. Gutted for him as you could tell in the interview when he joined us that he really wants to start making progress in his career and play football.

Doh! I got Dozzell and Amos mixed up but with Johansen on the verge of signing the good news is that we have options. Shame that Field is out and let's hope he has a speedy recovery.
Well so much for my guarded optimism! Him being unavailable for 3 - 4 months is a blow to the side, and it must impact upon Warburton's plans for the first few games. As I mentioned before, we had all better pray that Dom Ball gets through the pre-season and first 3 months unscathed and without a red card....
Field needs to get back in the mix quickly and help us get over that slight setback against Bournemouth i think we need 3 points against Bristol City if we dont get them i feel if we lose to West Brom which is possible we could possiby go on a downward spiral
3 points off Bristol City and the pressure will be off
no idea what team we will play against Everton (the one game im going too because i cant get to Bristol City due to work commitments)

All good points @tomcat75! Horrible to be already labelling such an early game in the season as a must-win one, but we do need to get a win under our belt before playing the Baggies! I suspect Bristol City will do all the can to disrupt our flow!! Re Everton, should MW play all the fringe players plus Amos, or should he go all out for a win? Tricky choice and perhaps not one he will even consider until after Saturday's match.....

Field is penciled in for a B Team match next week against Bristol City.
So it is unlikely he will feature against Sunderland in the cup and we are more likely to see him in the first team picture after the November international break.
It is actually great to think that we don't need to rush him back due to having such good options in the squad. Give him the time he needs.

Now that Amos is approaching full fitness they can continue to take their time with Field. The trouble with Field is that he is one of those players that is constantly plagued by injury and he needs be be 100% before we risk him. Hopefully, he gets through that B team game with no reaction and we see him contending for a place in the first team before the start of the new year.

Glad we have had the luxury of Dom Ball playing so well in that slot, otherwise we certainly would be rushing Field back.... Anybody heard how Wallace is doing?
Warburton said he is a couple of weeks behind Field, I can't see him featuring until after the next international break.
Warburton now suggesting he could be in the squad for Blackpool. Hope they don't rush him back because they did that with McCallum and he has got injured again.
