Anyone else believe the story about him not playing for us for the rest of the season due to his world cup commitments? The cynic in me thinks the deal is done and he is out he door.

It is certainly a pretty unusual move.
Some players going to the World Cup will still be involved in games like the Champions League final which isn't until 26 May and they will do just fine!
I'm not sure why a player who is likely to only play 3 games at the world cup (and Australia's aren't until 16 June and he isn't a guaranteed starter) needs to miss these 2 games. Even if he played he'd still have well over a full month off before the World Cup gets underway.
If he isn't injured I'm not sure why we should do this, are we going to stop paying him whilst he isn't here for these next 2 weeks?
I hope he rewards this bit of good faith from the club by sticking around next season to repay the loyalty.
I get that our final 2 results can only alter our position in the league by a couple of places (not sure how much more we get for each place further up the table we get?) so its good opportunity to try out other players in a competitive match. Personally I would prefer us to finish with as strong a team as possible to get a winning mentality for next season.
Its very odd, I honestly think his head has been turned by another team and a deal has been done.
It is possible that he has it written into his contract that he is given time to prepare/travel for international duty, although that is not quite what is being said. Either way we will have to cope without him and Ryan Manning seems the ideal candidate to me if Ollie is not going to tinker too much.... Birmingham have reacted already! Birmingham Media Picks Up On Luongo's Absence
Once again I can't believe the BS that OLLIE is talking about. I see it differently and that two possible situations . 1) The Aussies have asked us not to play him and picked up his wages. 2) We have agreed to sell him after world cup. And have agreed not to play him or disclose the deal until after world cup. This would enable the club to sell as many season tickets as possible before announcing the transfer deal.
It could be that he is sold but I'm not sure why we'd give him time off in that case. I'd say that it is more likely that what the club says is true and he needs a break. We might still get a good offer for him so we may never know the truth.
To be fair he did say it the other day when he announced his pre-world cup break (see tweet below) so don't think we can point a finger for him not saying it again 2 days later.
Well it turns out that interview was very telling. Luongo's World Cup disappointment appears to have really affected his performances.
So far this season he has been anonymous.
His head is down and he is not impacting games.
He also seems a bit 'lost' in the formation. Scowen has clearly been told to run about and be the 'defensive midfielder' whilst Eze is the 'attacking midfielder'. Luongo is lost in between them with the game going on around him.
Something isn't right and it isn't helping Luongo or QPR.
