Probably because it feels like de ja vu at the moment from 12 months ago with us trying to play out from the back, only preparing to bring in loan strikers at the last minute, Geoff Cameron knocking at the door and the manager talking about the need for experience!
I've been quite relaxed about the dealings so far but this one has got to me, especially with the absence of any strikers. Let's hope that he gets plenty of game time at Wycombe and comes back as a first team contender.

Ditto. This move implies that Smyth is seen as behind Oteh & Walker in the current pecking order, whereas I see him in the Eze role....
If Warburton isn't convinced by Smyth then its time to let him leave. Any player who doesn't have the managers confidence knows that at best he will probably only be on the bench. Unless the club has loads of injuries/suspensions then Smyth will become a bit of an outcast like Leistner and Scowen so better to follow their example and leave.
Warburton is reported to be keen on Rangers Jordan Jones who is also a winger, so if he were to sign then Smyth would probably fall further down the list.
Smyth is a talented player. No question. However he has two things going against him: lack of height and lack of build. When compared with BOS you see that he falls short in those areas, and in the Championship you need to be a powerful winger to take on players and dominate the wing. I think this is a very bad time for Smyth to leave (because of the perilous state of lower league clubs) but I feel he needs to carve out a career elsewhere and wish him well.

Visually Smyth does look smaller than BOS but according to Wikipedia they are the same height, although Smyth is about 8lb lighter.
If you compare Smyth with some of the other midfielders there is not much difference.
Smyth is 5'7" and 10st 9lbs BOS is 5'7" and 11st 3lbs Carroll is 5'8" and 11st 1lb Amos is 5'8" and 11st
Our smallest midfielder is Chair who is a tiny 5'2" and just 8st 3lbs.
I should have added that if Smyth looks slight then Jordan Jones the Rangers winger that Warburton wants to sign must be down right skinny at 5'8" and just 9st 6lbs.

Wow - just goes to show what perception does. When Smyth was getting bundled off the ball all the time I assumed it was because he weighed in at 9st 7lbs or suchlike, and he is taller than I thought too! I do think Chair should be excused tackles and given a 5 second start with the ball though!!

Chair has quite a big backside, so he has an ability to plant himself and it makes him more awkward to get off the ball than somebody like Smyth who could be blown over by a stiff breeze.
I like Smyth, no doubting his commitment etc, but I remain of the opinion that if he becomes a top player for us I'll be absolutely amazed. He may come on and have a good 20 minutes here and there, but I never see him being able to command a starting place long term and dominating games. Even at Wycombe he wasn't a mainstay.

I think a permanent deal would be better, even for a nominal fee.
We've now signed 5 players (Dykes, Thomas, Adomah, Willock, Bonne) who have gone ahead of him in the pecking order across the forward line. Surely his time at QPR is over.
Smyth being mooted by WLS to be wanted by Charlton on loan, which would make sense.
I like Smyth because he has a bit of pace and can be tricky but he can be too easily knocked off the ball.
Because he lacks the physicality needed for Championship football its almost certain we won't see him in a QPR shirt again once his loan period finishes.
