The Hunt For The Next Manager

I like the idea of Warburton maybe with Birch as his number 2....

Following up from the comments about Warburton's second interview and the choice of Bircham as his #2, this from the WLS:



I am surprised that the incoming manager does not dictate whom will be his assistant, but I think this is a positive step as it ensures the manager is not surrounded by those who only mirror his thoughts. Checks on training methods, strategy and formation are all good things in my book! What is surprising is that Marc Bircham's name is not included in the 3 mentioned...

If it is true then this week has suddenly got better.... and another name drops into the running at good odds:

Not a bad choice as he must have been working with League 1 talent at The Owls....

There are no quotes in that Sherwood article so I'm not sure what the idea he's out of the running is based on. He's not come out and said anything so how do they know?

The longer the hunt goes on the more I think the actual choice could be somebody from leftfield.

Seems good news that Sherwood has ruled himself out. Can't think that there will be too many fans crying over his decision. However, I reckon most fans would have been in floods of tears if he was appointed!

I reiterate what I have said before, we need a manager from the lower leagues that has worked within budget constraints but got ambition. Look at what Chris Wilder did at Northampton before transferring that same magic to Sheffield United. He saved Northampton from relegation then got them promoted. He then left a team he got promoted to League 1 to join Sheffeild Utd in the Championship and turned around their fortunes to see them on the verge of promotion back to the Premiership.

If he takes the job you got to give the guy a medal the mess we are in

I'm not sure any of the names linked will get me that excited but there is something about Warburton that leaves me a bit uninspired.

He's a bit of a dull character and I sense we need somebody to inspire us both on and off the field. As I raised before why has he been out of work for 18 months of he is that good?
