Well the wait is over and Warburton is the man, on a 2 year contract. What was pleasing to read was that:
in his interview he makes a point of talking about wanting players to be ‘brave in possession’ and playing a more attacking brand of football.
I for one would be horrified if we ended up playing 'Millwall-style' football, and Warburton's aspiration is not far from what we have been aiming for anyway.
We'll let the bread puns slide today but I think from tomorrow onwards there will have to be a week long website ban every time somebody pops up with a bread pun
I think a week is not long enough northwesthoop - it should be a bakers dozen!
On a more serious note, there is a good article linked here to fans from Brentford, Rangers and Forest about Warburton. What comes out of this interesting read is his commitment to bringing through youth (which must have been a good reason for appointing) and his loyalty to the players; but there appears to be no 'Plan B', poor defensive work, and some dodgy mates appointed (which I expect QPR to prevent). As you groan, bear in mind that the perfect candidate we could not afford, even if he existed! Anyway, here is the link: www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/50304/

Apparently he likes to play out from the back and talks of 'splitting the centre halves'.... which is concerning to me at this point. We heard exactly the same stuff from McClaren last year and we only really played that way for the first 4 games as we just couldn't adapt and it had to be scrapped.
And although it is admirable in theory to want to play that way (and I obviously hope we do become more entertaining to watch) we simply as it stands still do not have the players to play that system.
So if he is going to want to play the same way he has at other clubs we are going to need sweeping changes to the squad and sooner rather than later. As stoatey said elsewhere we cannot afford to be waiting until the end of August to bring players in again, especially if he wants players to play a certain style. Get the players in asap and drill a system into them.
It is certainly going to be an interesting summer. Again!
